The subject interests of our group so far include paintings (all periods), old churches and cathedrals, the Victorian period, oriental art, modern art and architecture, theatre set designs and costumes, illustrators, the art of the cinema and photography.
Activities can involve:
1) watching DVDs and discussing their content, etc.
2) introducing the group to relevant topics of personal interest by various means, including presentations.
3) visits to places with talks arranged specially with knowledgeable guides, where possible, e.g., exhibitions, historical buildings, churches, theatres (behind the scenes).
You do not need to be an expert to attend our meetings and activities, which are aimed at the 'interested amateur'.
We enjoy good, informative discussions about artists and buildings, as well as each other’s company. Anybody in the group is welcome to contribute to meetings, whether through giving presentations on favourite topics, arranging visits or showing DVDs (there are over 800 available to borrow from the U3A Trust library).
